Why Sail with SouthSails? Your new sail experience at SOUTHSAILS starts with a personal conversation with "Mac", our Sailmaker/Owner, followed up by a trip to the boat for measuring. Then we order the latest available cloth (not cloth bought in bulk and sitting on the shelf for a long time--as is the case with some of the bigger lofts. Next, the sail is designed to perform best under the conditions that the boat will be sailing most often--taking into account your budget, desired sail life, and type of boat and sailing conditions. Then we concentrate on workmanship, using the widest seams and reinforcements throughout the entire sail--something not often found on factory sails. Stainless grommets, rings and hardware, along with hand-stitched leather and webbed-on slides, are just some of the details we provide. Our policy is to "build 'em right the first time", and with a 5-year warranty, we have to. Repairs are done free of charge for the first five years.
